It’s been a whirlwind of May and it’s only getting busier…. of which I couldn’t be more thrilled! Here’s the highlights of what I’ve been up to personally, and what I’m working on in the business.
- Our baby… ooph, yes thee baby, turned 21! He’s our literal May-day babe and was away at college working through finals on the days leading up to, through, and a few days after his birthday. So we quietly celebrated through texts and phone calls on his actual day. Then we flew to Vegas to celebrate him. His only goal for this specific birthday was to have an alcoholic drink while playing a round of blackjack with dad. You may think 21 is the place to be for your birthday, but this kiddo is not about the crazy lights and chaos that is Vegas, thankfully. We stayed off the strip and only traveled with him once for that specific birthday special. He had some college buddies with him and they went out almost each night, thankfully the parents and parent friends didn’t have to. haha
- I traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan at the end of April and beginning of May for The Reset Conference. This is a women-led, women’s photography conference. It has all the bells and whistles of a large conference, but is scaled back in size, something I tend to lean into. There’s more time to connect with like-minded ladies and also plenty of education with industry experts, and networking. This is my second year attending and something I am looking forward to each year.
- The day before Mother’s Day, I attended a pop-up at a local boujee boutique out in the countryside of Santa Cruz. With the help of the boutique, we set up an outdoor photo prop and I met dozens of families, connected with several of them, and even took a handful of photos for mom’s, with mom’s and kids, spouses, sisters, aunts, etc. Such a fun experience and I cannot wait to attend another one!
- After Vegas, the hubby and I traveled up to our North Idaho home to prepare it for demolition and build. This is huge for us, huge! We have been dreaming, planning, and saving for nearly three decades to build our forever home and it’s hardly believable that we are weeks away from that build! It’s SO exciting, and definitely has stressful moments. So incredibly lucky to have a hubby who is familiar with building as he can make decisions left and right about things I know nothing about.
As we enter June, I am wrapping up a 5 month online intensive photography business course with an in person final class in Brooklyn at the end of the month. I have learned so much and met some amazing people all of which I can’t wait to meet in person in less than a month!
As far as my business, I am already seeing the photography sessions locking in for June and July is booked! I’m fully booked for July and I can hardly believe it! Thanks to all of you! I have a few more dates in June and a handful available in August.
September is pretty open right now for family sessions but I’ll be locking that down in the next few weeks once the schools get on the calendar.
So, stay tuned for an email when I open up October-November, and select dates in December. And if you’re not on my VIP email list and want to be, click here to be added so you don’t miss a calendar release email and other special offers just for my VIP clients.
Happy Summer and hopefully I’ll see you in front of my camera before the end of the year!
